Specialization in Odontostomatology and Dental Prosthodontics at the University of Milan in 1982.

Professor and Chairman of the Department of Periodontology and Implant Restoration at the Dental School of the University of Milan.

Member of the Board of the European Association for Osseointegration (EAO) 1998 - 2005.

President of EAO for the years 2001-2003 and Immediate Past-President for years 2004/2005.

Member of the Council of EAO since the year 2005

Founder of the Italian Society of Osseontegration.

Active Member and Vice-President of the Italian Society of Periodontology (SidP) for the years 2003-2005.

Referee of the Journal of Clinical Periodontology, Journal of Periodontology,  International Journal of Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry.

He published several scientific papers and is international lecturer about the topic Periodontology, Osseointegration and Bone Regeneration.

Lo Studio Odontoiatrico Prof. Massimo Simion ha una tradizione di oltre 50 anni, fondato negli anni '50 dal Dr. Alberto Simion, padre dell'attuale titolare Prof. Massimo Simion.

Alberto Simion ha fatto dello studio uno dei punti di riferimento dell'odontoiatria milanese, associando la cordialità al rigore scientifico, e ponendosi come obiettivo primario il beneficio del paziente. Fino agli anni '90 hanno partecipato all'attività clinica dello studio tutti i componenti della famiglia Simion: Virgilia Reggiani, moglie di Alberto, Maura figlia primogenita, e Massimo. Tutti laureati in Medicina e Chirurgia e specializzati in Odontostomatologia all'Università di Milano.

Massimo Simion, Direttore dello Studio, è considerato attualmente uno dei maggiori esperti mondiali in implantologia e rigenerazione ossea.

Negli ultimi 20 anni Massimo Simion, grazie all'ausilio di selezionati collaboratori ha trasformato lo studio in una clinica polispecialistica orientata alla riabilitazione completa del paziente dall'estetica alla funzione, con l'obiettivo di migliorare la qualità di vita dei propri pazienti e la loro soddisfazione.

One of the most important key factors to achieve long term success with osseointegrated implants is the presence of sufficient amount of alveolar bone.

In many cases, bone quantity is not sufficient due to traumas or advanced periodontal disease. Many techniques have been advocated to allow implant positioning both immediate and delayed.

Vertical bone loss in partially edentulous patients is one of the most difficult clinical situation to solve due to anatomical limitations and technical difficulties.

In 1994 new concepts of Guided Bone Regeneration have been applied to maxillary deficiencies in order to obtain vertical bone augmentation with the help of non-resorbable titanium reinforced membranes.

In the following years the procedures have been validated in term of relaiabilty and long term success.

New acquisitions in tissue engineering offer new solutions for regeneration of deficiencies of bone volume and periodontal defects, reducing at the same time many problems related to the technique in terms of invasiveness and complications.

Platelet derived growth factors (rh-PDGF-BB) has been widely utilized as a powerful regenerative factor in orthopedics and periodontology. This material in association with scaffolds could, in the near future, allow a more effective bone regeneration avoiding the need of bone harvesting and non-resorbable membranes.
